The busy summer has ended and it was full of activities. We opened our new residency house and the trolley workshop. The houses were put to full use by the Wild Bits residencies. We hosted so many talented people from around the world and had a great time. During the fall, Maajaam hosts residencies at a slower pace. For now, we focus on preparing for the Wild Bits exhibition that opens in 2024.

In this newsletter we announce a Wild Sounds residency - it’s a very short-notice, so check it out and send your application now!

If You would prefer not to receive Maajaam newsletter in the future, you find unsubscribe link in the bottom of the e-mail.

During summer 2023 we hosted two art production camps, where new works for next year’s technological art outdoor exhibition Wild Bits were developed and produced. The visiting artists were Julijonas Urbonas, Marco Barotti, Varvara & Mar, Janis Polar, Andreas Zißler, Fabian Lanzmaier & Klemens Kohlweis, Anna Tamm & Vinzenz Leutenegger, Greg Orrom Swan, Jeanne Harignordoquy and Uģis Albiņš.

Artworks were made in a variety of techniques starting from 3D printing with clay to taking DNA samples from mushrooms. We cannot wait to open the exhibition to the public already next year in May 2024 as part of the official program of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024. Stay tuned!

Some of you might have already heard the heartbreaking news that our beloved dalmatian, the true icon of Maajaam, Muuro had to overcome a difficult surgery. Last month she had a serious injury that resulted in losing one of her front paws and has to cope on 3 paws now. Some of you have also already contributed with their good wishes and donations to Muuro. We are extremely grateful for each of your support and it’s heartwarming to see that Muuro has gained so many friends and won your hearts over the years.

But it seems for now, the most difficult recovery period is over and she is back to her spirits and we can breathe a sigh of relief. We are planning to collaborate with 3DPets to create a new 3D printed paw for Muuro. As the endeavor is quite expensive we started crowdfunding to pay the bills. Check out our online Kiosk for donation options and T-shirts of Muuro.

Maajaam has some vacant spaces for volunteers and artists during winter months from January to March 2024. We are looking for volunteers and interns to help us run the farm as it takes a lot of hands to keep things running smoothly. Volunteers get a private bedroom in the residency house and can work half-time on their own projects.

For a self-funded residency program there is no deadline, just send your request anytime. We are happy to create an official invitation to apply for funding. Contact us to apply.

In your e-mail please include a link to your portfolio, possible residency dates and mention if you need an invitation letter.
